Screen Design V3

Well after a bit of nudging and slight colouring in the screen design has been edited again. Here is the final screen design, comments are gratefully accepted and thanks in advance for any given.

I am bit stuck whether to go with Final Content Design 1 or 2.

The design looks better with a splash of colour.

My choice between your interior pages is idea 1. I think its really interesting the idea 2 but in terms of design and usability I think you would be better to go with idea 1.

It is better for the user to be able to see a fuller image of what they are clicking on, I think.

I agree with Drew, your first idea is the strongest as it makes it much easier for the user to know what they are clicking on.

Your second idea would work if it were to have some descriptive text of some sort perhaps but this is obviously not what you are wanting to do.

I have to agree with drew and Chris that idea 1 is your strongest design. The problem with number 2 would be that it would be difficult to see what each page is about.

Like Craig said though a short description would make this much more effective.

I could add a bit of descriptive text under each image. This would be just a line which would obviously lead onto a bigger image with a more detailed explanation of the work completed.

Thanks for the comments.

I still think the design lacks a lot of cohesion, Chris. Looking at the first portfolio design you did on the 13th of Feb looks substantially better - the identity is far stronger.

I don't think the navigation and background colours work well together either. I think you should pick one colour and build a CID around it. This way, you can have different tints for different part of the page, making a simple, strong, cohesive identity. A simple chunky typography logo, a selection of simple fonts for both print and web and you should have something which almost creates its own layout for a portfolio.

I agree with drew about a fuller image being better for the user but personally I do like the thiner images in idea 2 it has a certain amount of symmetry with the way the links go across the page.
